ABOUT THE FIFTH ASSESSMENT
The Fifth California Climate Change Assessment will provide the latest scientific insights on climate risks and resilience across the state. Developed with input from diverse experts and communities, it will support decision-making at local, regional, tribal, and state levels—focusing on those most vulnerable to climate impacts. The assessment includes Climate Assessment Regional Synthesis Reports for each of the State’s 9 climate regions. The Summary report will compile the best available science, information, and resources to help communities understand and respond to climate change at a local scale. By bridging research to action, the Fifth Assessment aims to inform policies and strategies for a more resilient California.

The San Francisco Bay Area Regional Synthesis Report will compile and distill key findings from California’s Fifth Climate Change Assessment into a regionally focused resource. Designed to meet the unique needs of Bay Area communities, the report will integrate new research on climate impacts, summarize relevant resources and examples, and identify gaps in knowledge where needed.
The report aims to support policy, planning, and action at local and state levels. It will inform regional and local vulnerability assessments, adaptation planning, and community resilience efforts. By following a consistent statewide framework, the report highlights both broad climate challenges and localized priorities, ensuring the science is actionable and accessible for decision-makers and communities alike.
